Trevor: I want to chat about the top three mistakes that podcast guests make. And it’s something I can see over and over and over again. Something that I coach our clients through to make sure that they don’t make these mistakes. And then also these mistakes I’m sure you’ve seen or heard on a podcast yourself. The first one being is an infomercial where you have someone come onto the podcast and all they’re doing is they’re just selling you. They’re pushing their ebook, they’re pushing their website, they’re pushing all their information on you. And it’s almost like you’re listening to a sales call no one wants that. There’s a time and place in every podcast interview that you do that you’re going to be able to talk about your company. You’re going to have a time and place to present your company and where the audience can find you. So you want to make sure that you’re not just pushing and just selling, just very hard. Yes, we work with a lot of real estate investors and their main goal is to raise capital. But talking about why you’re the best sponsor, why the other sponsors aren’t good, that’s not going to be beneficial for the audience. What they want to learn about is why did you pick this specific market? What does your track record look like? Why do you like this specific asset class, things like that, and questions that you’re going to be answering and providing helpful content. That’s what’s going to allow you to raise capital from going out there and being a guest on the podcast. The audience doesn’t care that you have a 40% IRR or a, you know, the next big thing. They just want to understand themselves on a minute platform of how you’ve conducted yourself as a company because they understand that you could have gotten 40% IRR on a deal two years ago, where it’s a lot harder to come by now. So what are you doing in today that you’re doing differently than in 21, 22, 23? That’s the helpful content that the audience is going to get out of it, not by you talking about why you’re the best company that’s out there. So you don’t want to make it an infomercial. The next is you want to have either a website set up or a landing page. Because again, at the end of the podcast interview, I don’t think I’ve never had a podcast host say this, where they always say, where can our audience learn more about you at that point? I say you can go to our website podcasting you. If I’ve taken the time to create a specific landing page, which sometimes I do, I’ll do podcasting you.com podcastname. I make it easy to duplicate across every single podcast. But the bare minimum, you want to make sure that you have a website, because if you’re going on these podcasts and people are hearing about you, they go to and they have nowhere to find you other than like your LinkedIn. Maybe they’re going to connect there, maybe they’re nothing. A website is just going to give them more information to learn more about you. And then the last piece is just poor equipment. You want to make sure you have a quality podcast mic. Maybe you have some lighting, maybe you have a webcam. When it comes to podcast mic, I’ve done a couple of episodes on it, but I recommend using like a little blue Yeti mic. That’s what I’m using right now is around $100. I’ve used the blue snowball. That’s a little bit more budget friendly. Last time I used it, it was about $50. You can use the audio technica. That’s another good brand as well. So just go on Amazon, type in podcast mics. At the bare minimum, you want to have a good quality podcast microphone. You want to make sure that you’re not recording in your car, you’re not recording with just AirPods in. You’re not recording through your phone. You want to make sure you’re in a quiet background. I’ve had different guests come on to my show, wherever I’ve had actually someone ordering at a drive through while on their phone recording the interview. When that happens, how much interest am I going to have to interview? Because I just know it’s not going to be good quality content. So you want to make sure you’re in a nice quiet setting. You have a nice professional mic. Maybe again, maybe you have the webcam. I bought my webcam. I think it was like 20, $30 on Amazon. It was relatively inexpensive. But those are three mistakes that I find that podcasts guess make again infomercial just selling too hard on the show, not having anywhere to send the audience to, and then not having good podcast equipment where the overall audio quality of the podcast is just not gonna be good. But I hope you don’t make those three mistakes when it comes to podcast guesting, and I hope that it was beneficial for you.
